My Hair Grows

It was one month ago (29.July.2012).. I did one of the insanest things ever in my life so far.

Photobucket

I went for Hair of Hope 2012 where participants got their hair shaved for fund raising for Children Cancer's Foundation.

Photobucket

And I got my hair shaved!

Photobucket

One month later which is today (28.August.2012), this is how my hair looks like at the moment.

Photobucket

It is definitely a glad thing to watch my hair grows everyday. We shall see how long it is in another month time. ^^

Home Lunch

Last night was truly a difficult night to me. I was with my lady boss and a colleague. We were having our night with the customers.

It was all about beer and liquor until 3:30am. And I was home around 4:40am. I collapsed on bed without even my shower.

Whitney cooked today. It was good to have a home meal after a long, long night yesterday.

Photobucket

She can cook simple meal. And I eat simple. So simple meal is fine to me.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Foochow people like to have a bowl of soup in every meal. That's our culture.

Among all, my favorite dish this afternoon was...

Photobucket

My parents passed that to her when she was in Kuching.

Her cooking is not as delicious as my mother's cooking. But I understand that she's learning and doing trial and error to make good food for me. I, too trying to adapt my tongue to accept her cooking.

I finished the lunch and I did the washing..  =]

After all we are from different background. Her family's way of preparing food and my family's way of preparing is different. And we are raised up eating our mothers' cooking.

Now it is our time to learn how to prepare the food in such a way that it is makan-able by two of us. It is never easy. Yet, .. that is one of the most interesting parts in life.

My turn to cook next time!

Melacca Trip

19.08.2012 (Sunday), I took the earliest bus (Five Star), 0800 hours and left Singapore for Melacca. It was another so very last-minute-decision-trip. Everything was decided and arranged 16 hours ago before the departure.

I was fortunate enough that I still managed to get the bus tickets last minute despite the Hari Raya festive season.

Photobucket

I arrived 1200 hours at Melaka Sentral. I was told to be in Melacca around 1230 hours ~ 1300 hours. Apparently, I was there way super too early.

Photobucket

And the waiting game started.

Zhong Has was summoned to leave Muar for Melacca to meet up with me first while waiting for their arrival from Kuala Lumpur because he was the nearest person to me.

I waited for Zhong Han's arrival at Tesco which is opposite to the Melaka Sentral. No worry as there's an overhead bridge for pedestrian to cross that very busy road in order to reach Tesco.

I strongly do not recommend you all to stay/wait inside Melaka Sentral for long. It was.. "ugly". I had this insecurity feel. It felt as if my wallet would be gone any second from my pocket.

And I waited and waited and waited at Kluang Station inside the Tesco having my Root Beet Float for another 1.5 hours plus.

Photobucket

There was a handicap person approached me and I bought that little phone-decor-teddy bear for Whitney for RM 6.00.

Finally... I met Zhong Han. And the time was 1430 hours.

The first item in our itinerary was "千成糕" (Thousand Layers Cake).

I shall skip the hunting-"千成糕"-game that I had with Zhong Han for another 1 hour.

Photobucket

We found the "千成糕" shop, the infamous Nadeje! And the time was 1530 hours. The group from Kuala Lumpur were still stuck in the massive traffic jam.

Photobucket

I say the infamous Nadeje, I really mean it. Look at the crowd. Look at the queue. The only method to kill your time while you're waiting patiently is...

Photobucket

Photobucket

to play with your smart phones.

It was an extremely hot afternoon. Plus the heat generated from the crowd. You definitely need very much of endurance to handle that.

There were people gave up waiting. Kids got impatiently and started to make noise at their parents.

We endured much waiting for the cake and waiting for the arrival of the group. And every second passed... finally, we were so close to the cake.

Photobucket

Finally... We got our 11 seats at 1630 hours. And the group from Kuala Lumpur arrived and joined us at 1700 hours. What a reunion!

That sure was the toughest reunion ever.

We crossed borders from different country and states and finally we had a family reunion in Melacca.

Photobucket

Photobucket

We ordered as much cakes as possible. I never know that the cakes can be that delicious until I tasted it. It was such an heavenly taste.

I think my favourites are Tiramisu and Original flavour.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

We spent our time fellowship among each other while enjoying our cakes.

I felt my life is complete with their presence that afternoon.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Next item on our itinerary is A Farmosa.

And so we walked to the infamous A Farmosa for sight seeing and more fellowship and little bit of outdoor photography.

Photobucket

Photobucket

As usual the place is filled with tricycle for tourists. I bet most of us had ride on that before so we didn't bother to have a ride on that for that day.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Next we headed down to Jonker Street which is all nearby around the place.

Photobucket

That's another place packed with crowd. le sigh.

Photobucket

We could not do anything much due to the massive crowd. We were walking slowly in the crowd. Lost our interest to stop by the stall for a view. Odour in the crowd almost killed me.

Photobucket

We walked half way and made an u-turn and walked back to our car for dinner which is the last item on our itinerary list.

ngom.. ngom.. ngom..

Photobucket

That sure was another super dinner!

We ended our Melacca trip at 2330 hours. I followed the group back to Kuala Lumpur and returned to Singapore from Kuala Lumpur the next day.

Photobucket

Thanks nakama for the company. You guys are definitely the best creatures I've ever met so far!

Raymond's Birthday Dinner

I intended to sleep longer during weekend. Somehow I just woke up and could not get back to sleep again. Oh well. That's a good thing though, in a way.

It is Saturday and Whitney is not around at the moment. She has gone home. So I am still wondering what to do today...

The title tells "Raymond's Birthday Dinner".

That was on Thursday (16.08.2012) night. That wasn't his real birthday. His birthday falls on Sunday. An advance birthday dinner for him.

Photobucket

We had our dinner at Canton Paradise which located at J-Cube. Not too many people actually turned up. It was weekday by the way.

I do not know Raymond well personally. We met few times at church. Ian invited me to join that small gathering. I accepted the invitation. Partly because I wanted to know people from Vincent's cell group more.

I think it is good to take the initiative to mix around and observe their characteristics. Relationship can only happens when one party takes up the initiative. I'd know never know who they are if I happen to choose to stay at home facing the four walls, right.

Dinner was so-so. I didn't take any photo of food this round. I am new to the group. It is rather rude for a new bird like me to have camera non-stop shooting. Ian has brought his own DLSR with him. So he is the main photographer of the night.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I don't have much saying about the above. Birthday cake, Happy Birthday song and making a couple of birthday wishes.. that's a typical must-do during any birthday celebration.

There was something really interesting about the way this cell group runs a birthday celebration. Everyone in the group gets a couple of minutes to share and encourage the birthday boy or birthday girl.

Obviously I was not ask to talk. I am a new bird. Man, what a privilege, what a privilege to be a new bird!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Everyone gets his or her chance to say something. I think that is a really good practice and a very good approach and opportunity to actually encourage the birthday boy/girl.

Photobucket

Everyone would pay full concentration and listened to what the person was saying to Raymond. They could share things like.. before this Raymond was this and that. For now, Raymond is this and that. And as for his future, a word of declaration or word of encouragement is given. Everything ended up sweet with a brotherly hug.

Photobucket

So.

Photobucket

Happy birthday, dude. =]

Happy Birthday, Daddy

Let's do a little writing before I head to my bed and call today a day. Time now is 1:18am as I am typing along.

13/8 is my father's birthday.

Photobucket

Glad that my younger brother took the initiative and did a small birthday celebration for him at home.

Apparently that is the only picture uploaded to Facebook. I was expecting to see more pictures there.

Well...

I was browsing through my phone's Picture Folder and I found this picture which I've taken some time ago from one of the church's bulletins.

Photobucket

That's my dad. Thanks for being my role model all these years. You're always the best.

Happy birthday, dad.

Another One "Productive" Saturday

Most of my posts now are all about my Saturday. Basically that's the only day I have a 24-hour for myself. Forget about works. Forget about my emails. I don't bother to read any email from my Blackberry as well unless it is really really critical email.

Next time I should not have read also. How much can I help during weekend, right? So why bother to read.

So it was a very long Saturday to me. In order to keep this post as interesting as possible. I require more pictures this time. Please bear with me.

Why was it a "long" Saturday? Because I left home 12pm and I returned home 4:00am. When was my last time home at 4:00am? The most only 3am when I had a long alcoholic night monthly(?).

I shall do a post from 12pm until 4am! Here I go...

No.1 - Lunch time with Whitney

Photobucket

Photobucket

It is again our once-a-month-THE-meal time. Yeah, "THE" meal. "THE" as in the meal is going to be really THE-great. Last month we had Japanese cuisine. So shall do a Western cuisine this month.

Photobucket

Apparently, we are switching around Japanese and Western every month. That's a bummer, huh? Maybe we should try Malay food or Indian food some time. What say you?

Alright, here comes the appetizers.

Photobucket

My all time favorite, garlic bread + a bowl of mushroom soup!

Photobucket

Caesar salad is a must to me as well! I don't feel my meal is complete without a salad as starter.

Photobucket

And maybe a little bit of finger food.

I rarely take the pictures of food. Perhaps I should do it more. It makes my blog actually "smells" good. Please tell me that you can smell the food. That encourages me.

Photobucket

I had fish and chips as my main course and sirloin for Whitney's. Le sigh. I have forgotten to take a picture of her sirloin. I'll note that one next time. The food was good.

Photobucket

Anything that is edible is good to us. We are not that fussy anyway.

Last but not least, the dessert.

Photobucket

No.2 - Church service

We were having church service at 5pm. It was only 3:00pm when we finished up our main course. So we took our time sipping our hot tea while enjoying the nice slice of dessert cake in the slow afternoon.

Took a cab to church round 3:30pm. It was our church 23rd anniversary this week. I expected to meet a huge crowd at church. That was why I left for church that early. The crowd was overwhelming. It was so difficult for us to find even find a seat.

Every seat is reserved. And I screwed one or two of the ushers. My temper just went wild. As if the nine-tailed monster's chakra uncontrollably took our my chakra. And thing just went so wrong... (oK, too much Naruto)

The service was superb. It was its 23rd birthday. What a bittersweet 23rd birthday, City Harvest Church.

You may watch yesterday's service here if you're interested when it is uploaded.

Please watch it.

No.3 - Dinner with the cell group

I started to have this really complicated feeling as I am writing this now. I was trying to use a better word to substitute the word "cell group" above. After much consideration, I'd stick with that word.

It doesn't matter after all.

I am feeling complicated with the word "cell group" because I didn't attend to cell group at all. Every time I see them and there's a really mix-feeling inside me. I was not suppose going to see them. It was a rather long story yesterday. Somehow they appeared. They appeared so magically... whatever.

Photobucket

Church service ended at 8:00pm and it was time for dinner. We had dinner at this spot called Arab Street. The name tells it all. The street is filled with this very Arabic-atmosphere or Middle East-feel.

That's one of the mosques here. They just ended their buka-ed Puasa when we got there.

Photobucket

I do not really recommending this if you're not fancy with Middle East's food. And, rest assure that it is NOT CHEAP at all. Arab Street? 90% I could see is that the whole place is "conquered" by ang-moh having their fun session with beer.

Photobucket

Without much hesitation, we went into a Lebanese cuisine restaurant. The price gave us an adrenaline-shock but me. I can't be bothered.

A few pictures of the food we had ordered. We shared. That's cell group... (?)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Those are not the type of food I am really really fancy about. Are those food really some typical Lebanese food? I thought Lebanese food is very spicy? I don't know. Please enlighten me.

Price wise? I don't feel like mentioning it here. It will blow you away. Anyway, I don't care about the price nor the food. What I really care was...

Photobucket

Half way we were eating, some sexy "Arabic" lady (she's Chinese, by the way) came into the restaurant and DANCE! She must had known that I am there! O..M..Goosh. And she was getting closer and closer and closer and closer and closer to me.

Photobucket

Am I really that attractive? Hell yeah, I do!

Photobucket

Shake it, baby. Shake, shake, shake...

Photobucket

Shake it harder, baby.. oh Yeah, shake it.

O..M..Goosh. The Lebanese food's price just gave me an adrenaline-shock. What now.. A double adrenaline-shock. I nose bleed. <-- ok, I made that up. I am well trained. I don't bleed that easily.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Oh well. A standard ending, a group photo after every great meal. What say you?

No. 4 - Movie time

The day was not going to be completed with out a movie. We went for a late night movie, Total Recall at 12:10am. So I had a two nights of movie straight.

I just had The Bourne Legacy the night before. And last night I had Total Recall. I'd definitely recommend Total Recall. It was a good movie.

No. 5 - I'm home

I'm home at 4:00am.
